Pages- 505
Genre- Adventure,Fantasy, YA
Release Date-
Published By- Walker Books

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

My thoughts-
Clary didn't think going to a club would change her life. But it does. She will learn things about her family, about the city she lives in. But more importantly Clary will learn who she truly is.

This is the first book in The Mortal Instruments series. A brilliant start to the series.

Clary can get abit annoying at times once she has something on her mind she will do what it takes, She did have people's best intentions though. Jace is a shadowhunter born to kill demons, once he meets Clary he is determined to know more about her. At the beginning Jace is a fighter he is strong, confident, throughout the story you will learn there is more to him then you think. Which i loved it kept me reading i wanted to know more about him. Simon is amazing, he is a much needed character in this book. With everything he learns he takes it in his stride, with everything that happens he just wants Clary to be safe.

There is a little romance in this book, i wouldn't say it is the main focus (the main focus is finding Clary's mum). The romance between Clary and Jace isn't love at first site which i really liked as i have read many book where they fall in love immediately. They find each other annoying at first but with time they get to know each other, they figure out each other.

The pacing of this book is fast within the first couple of  chapters you have already met the shadowhunters and there's already been a murder, from there it doesn't stop there is always someone to safe or find.

With the new TV show that has come out i thought it was time to give these books ago and i'm glad i did i'll defiantly be reading the rest of the series. If you are after a book you will fly through this is defiantly one for you, there's vampire, demons, warlocks, werewolfs and warriors.

What do you think of this series? If you are watching the TV show what do you think of that too?
Thank you for reading.
