About this book- From Goodreads
Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.

Debut novelist Deborah Harkness has crafted a mesmerizing and addictive read, equal parts history and magic, romance and suspense. Diana is a bold heroine who meets her equal in vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont, and gradually warms up to him as their alliance deepens into an intimacy that violates age-old taboos. This smart, sophisticated story harks back to the novels of Anne Rice, but it is as contemporary and sensual as the Twilight series-with an extra serving of historical realism.

My Thoughts-
First book in the All souls trilogy.

Ashmole 782 brings together witches, daemons and vampires Diana never thought she would trust a vampire but what she doesn't know she is going to fall in love with Mathew.

I will defiantly continue with this series even though it is 688 pages it really didn't take me long to read it i would take it everywhere with me that's how much i was absorbed in the story. When i picked this up i didn't think i would enjoy it as much as i did i would recommend this book to everybody persevere with it as it took a few chapters to get into for myself.

Diana lived a quite life away from magic but that soon catches up on her, i liked Diana she doesn't run away or push people away when things get too much. Mathew was my favorite from the very beginning he is protective over her but he lets her make her own choices. Mathew family are skeptical at first when excepting a witch in there home but they slowly bond.

The writing was detailed, the pace was slow at first but near the end the writing pace was fast.I feel like i have just repeated myself but i can't say nothing else other than i loved this book. I can't say nothing bad about this read.
